Itanagar, May 9 (IANS). Arunachal Pradesh Governor KT Parnaik on Saturday expressed concern over the increasing prevalence of lifestyle diseases. Officials said this health problem is increasingly affecting people of all age groups across the state.
An official of Lok Bhawan said that Chairman of All India Institute of Ayurvedic Sciences (AIIMS) Guwahati, Bhupendra Kumar Singh Sanjay met the Governor at Lok Bhawan in Itanagar.
The official further said that they discussed the changing landscape of healthcare in the North-Eastern region, with special focus on the unique healthcare challenges and opportunities of Arunachal Pradesh.
The Governor expressed concern over the increasing prevalence of lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, stress related disorders and heart diseases, which are increasingly affecting people of all age groups.
Emphasizing the importance of preventive health care, Governor Paranaik requested AIIMS Guwahati to launch dedicated studies and research initiatives to identify practical measures tailored to the socio-cultural and geographical conditions of the North-East and to identify region-specific causes.
Highlighting the need for a holistic health care approach, the Governor stressed the importance of incorporating latest technologies and advanced medical research into the health care system of the State.
He urged AIIMS Guwahati to share modern healthcare innovations, research findings and best medical practices with the health authorities and medical institutions of Arunachal Pradesh to strengthen healthcare delivery across the state, improve diagnostic capabilities and improve patient care.
Renowned orthopedic surgeon and Padma Shri awardee Bhupendra Kumar Singh Sanjay assured Governor Parnaik of AIIMS Guwahati’s full cooperation and support to strengthen healthcare collaboration with Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences.
