New Delhi, 19 September (IANS). Every year 23 September will be celebrated as Ayurveda Day. Minister of State for AYUSH Prataprao Jadhav said on Friday that earlier this day was celebrated on the occasion of Dhanteras, but now it has been fixed according to the English calendar keeping in mind the global identity. This year the historic 10th Ayurveda Day will be celebrated, which will also include international guests.
Jadhav said that this year’s theme is ‘Ayurveda for Peepal and Planet’, which aims that Ayurveda is equally important not only for humans but also for the conservation of the world’s flora and nature. He informed that Ayurvedic organic farming has also been included in this theme and talks are going on with the farmers and the Ministry of Agriculture for this. Many medicinal plants can be cultivated on a large scale, which will make Ayurvedic treatment and availability of medicines easier.
He said that even today, most people go towards modern hospitals when they are ill, but when there is no relief from anywhere, they get frustrated from everywhere, then they resort to Ayurveda and then treatment is possible. He regretted that people adopt Ayurveda in the last phase, while this medical system gives better and permanent results if it is adopted in time. Jadhav claimed that treatment of serious diseases like cancer is also possible from Ayurveda.
Prataprao Jadhav said that the Ministry of AYUSH is celebrating Ayurveda Day every year since 2016. There is a plan to celebrate it on a large scale in the coming years so that awareness about Ayurveda across the world will increase and its scientific recognition is strong.
At the same time, while questioning Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Jadhav said that the opposition’s effort is not to remove “fake votes and infiltrators”. He alleged that when the Congress got unilateral votes from Maharashtra in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi did not object.
