New Delhi, March 1 (IANS). In today’s busy life, we often ignore our daily routine, due to which the body becomes home to diseases. In such a situation, Ayurveda teaches us that if we spend our day according to the laws of nature, then the body will remain healthy and the mind will also remain calm.
The first and most important habit is to wake up early in the morning, especially before sunrise. At this time the environment is calm and fresh, the mind remains clear and the day starts with positive thinking. Drinking about half to one liter of lukewarm water as soon as you wake up is considered very beneficial. This keeps the stomach clean and toxic elements are removed from the body.
After this, defecation and cleaning of teeth is necessary. Using Neem or Acacia toothbrush or brushing teeth with a normal brush, cleaning the tongue and gargling are very important for oral health. Ayurveda also recommends gargling with oil, which strengthens teeth and gums. After this, putting two drops of oil or ghee in the nose and washing the eyes with cold water is also said to be beneficial.
Body massage (Abhyanga) should be done daily or a few days a week. Light massage with mustard, sesame or coconut oil improves blood circulation in the body, makes the skin glowing and relieves fatigue. Especially massaging the head and feet helps in good sleep and reduces stress. After this, light exercise, yoga or pranayam should be done. Exercise only so much that you sweat lightly, you should not feel too tired.
For bathing, it is considered good to use normal temperature water on the head and lukewarm water on the body. Bathing refreshes the body and removes laziness.
Ayurveda also emphasizes on balance when it comes to food. Eat fresh, light and easily digestible food. Reduce excessive fried and heavy food. Eating on time and chewing food thoroughly is very important for digestion. Eat early and light meals at night and avoid sleeping immediately after eating.
Good sleep is as important as good food. Six to eight hours of sleep is considered sufficient for adults and eight to ten hours for children. It is very beneficial to wash hands and feet before sleeping, massage the feet with lukewarm oil and listen to light music or meditation to calm the mind.
