New Delhi, October 14 (IANS). Bhringraj is a famous Ayurvedic herb, which is used in the treatment of many problems ranging from hair to liver, kidney and skin. It is called Kesaraj in Ayurveda and is also known to increase the immunity of the body.
In India, Bhringraj is known by different names, like Bhangra, Maka, Babri, Kesuti etc. The antioxidants, flavonoids and alkaloids present in Bhringraj remove toxic elements from the body and keep the cells healthy.
Bhringraj is a versatile medicine, which not only improves the health of hair but also strengthens the internal organs of the body like liver, kidney and digestive system. If it is used in the right way and quantity, it can prove helpful in protecting the body from many diseases.
It is most commonly used to prevent hair fall, graying and baldness. Along with this, it detoxifies the liver and also protects it from viral infections like hepatitis C.
Bhringraj can be consumed in the form of powder, juice, capsules or oil. You can take 2-3 grams of Bhringraj powder with honey twice a day as per doctor’s advice. In case of hair problems, applying its oil on the head is very beneficial. Applying paste of its leaves is beneficial in skin diseases. It is also effective in stomach related problems like indigestion, constipation, gas and loss of appetite. Its consumption reduces swelling in the body and increases immunity.
Even though Bhringraj is considered a safe herb, consuming it in excessive amounts may cause stomach ache or other problems. Pregnant women, lactating women and diabetic patients should consult a doctor before consuming it.
