Bhubaneswar, October 21 (IANS). Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi won everyone’s hearts by doing a noble deed during the Durga Puja celebrations. He got a bicycle from the gift coupon given by the committee at the Durga Puja celebration organized at Jhumpura in Keonjhar district, which he donated without any hesitation to a minor orphan boy from his native village Raikala. This child is Yogeshwar Naik, whose father died during the Corona epidemic.
Various cultural programs and fairs were grandly organized in the Durga Puja festival organized by Maa Durgati Nashini Sangh of Jhumpura. During this, the committee presented a gift coupon to the Chief Minister, through which he could participate in cultural events. The Chief Minister got a bicycle in the lucky draw of coupons. The committee presented a bicycle and the Chief Minister accepted it, but immediately used it for the needy. He handed it over to Yogeshwar Naik of Raikala village, who is pursuing studies after his father’s death.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said, “Various fairs are organized on the occasion of Durga Puja festival by Maa Durgati Nashini Sangh in Jhumpura in our Keonjhar district. Gift coupons are given to the people by the committee through which they can participate in cultural programs. I also got this coupon and won a bicycle from it. This bicycle was given to a child from our village Raikala, Yogeshwar Naik, whose father Died during Corona. He is studying now. This is a small thing, but there are many children who have lost their parents. We keep helping them. Today this opportunity came, so I thought that giving it to a poor child would be beneficial for him. This is a message of help for everyone.”
The incident occurred on the auspicious occasion of Durga Puja, when the state government had provided financial assistance of over Rs 7 crore to the puja committees. This work of the Chief Minister has become very popular in the tribal dominated Keonjhar district. Raikala village, where Majhi was born, is the center of the tribal community. With the help of children like Yogeshwar, they show their connection with their roots. Local people appreciated the Chief Minister. A villager said that CM Saheb proved that service can be done even after coming down from the height of the post.
