New Delhi, October 17 (IANS). Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alcmin said the world needs the timeless wisdom of Ayurveda for preventive and sustainable healthcare. At the same time, he has met India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar.
India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar posted pictures of the meeting on X and wrote, “Delighted to meet Geraldo Alckmin, Vice President of Brazil and Minister of Development, Industry, Trade and Services New Delhi, October 17 (IANS). Possibilities for greater cooperation in trade, investment, energy, connectivity, health and technology were discussed.”
Alkmin, who is on an official visit to India, visited the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi under the Ministry of AYUSH. Alkmin greatly appreciated India’s leadership in promoting traditional and integrated health systems.
“Ayurveda is a 5,000-year-old treasure trove of health and knowledge,” he said. He also congratulated AIIA for “promoting health, treating diseases and advancing education and research through a holistic approach.” He said that the world needs the eternal knowledge of Ayurveda for preventive and sustainable healthcare.
Alcmin, Brazil’s Minister of Development, Industry, Trade and Services, acknowledged the global relevance of Ayurveda and expressed his desire to seek Ayurvedic treatment for his back pain.
He said, “Life expectancy is increasing, and the demand for natural and preventive health systems like Ayurveda is also increasing. If it were not for a short trip, I would definitely have got my back pain treated at AIIA.”
Let us tell you, during this time Vice President Alkmin was accompanied by his wife Maria Lucia Alkmin and a high-level delegation of 14 officials. The delegation included Brazilian Ambassador to India Kenneth Nobrega and Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency Director Romisan Rodrigues and other senior representatives.
Welcoming the Vice President and his delegation, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, urged for greater collaboration between India and Brazil in the field of traditional medicine, integrated health research and wellness industries.
The Vice President and his delegation were also briefed on the pioneering contributions of AIIA in Ayurveda education, clinical services and advanced research.
