Srinagar, October 13 (IANS). Border Security Force (BSF) Frontier Headquarters Kashmir and Composite Hospital BSF Srinagar organized a Medical Seminar and CME (Continuing Medical Education) at Frontier Headquarters Conference Hall on Monday.
The theme of the conference was “Healthy Warriors, Secure Borders; Protecting Those Who Protect,” a statement said.
This was the first plastic-free medical conference in BSF, a green initiative of the Composite Hospital, BSF, Srinagar, an official said.
“The CME was chaired by Dr Umesh Tiwari, Inspector General/Director (Medical), Medical Directorate of BSF, who with his vast experience served as a panelist throughout the conference. Lectures were delivered by five doctors from BSF and two experts from GMC Srinagar,” the statement said.
The topics discussed included stress in the armed forces, a fight, three fronts: obesity, diabetes and fatty liver, PIVD and radiculopathy, gunshot injury case presentation, high altitude sickness, hypertensive crisis and hospital safety management.
The statement said that these sessions were eye-opening, educational, informative and gave motivational messages.
“Stress management is very important, as is the need to focus on control and treatment of lifestyle diseases. Proper diagnosis and treatment of diseases like PIVD, hypertension, altitude sickness prevalent in Kashmir is the need of the hour. Trauma management and quality control in our hospitals will take BSF hospitals to a new level. Jammu and Kashmir Medical Council has accredited this CME with four credit points.”
Around 50 delegates participated in the conference, including medical officers and senior general duty officers from across the valley.
“The conference highlighted the issues of prioritizing the well-being and healthy lifestyle of our soldiers so that they can better serve the nation,” the statement said.
