New Delhi, December 22 (IANS). Often you or the people around you complain of spinal weakness and joint pain. When the condition becomes serious, arthritis, osteoporosis, bursitis, arthritis and Paget’s disease start occurring. In these circumstances the doctor suggests surgery or long treatment.
It is generally believed that bone diseases occur due to calcium deficiency, which is also true, but disorders related to spine and joints are also seen in people who have been consuming milk and curd since childhood. Now the question arises why so?
Calcium alone is not responsible for every disorder related to the spine and joints. Calcium and Vitamin D together work to strengthen the spine and joints. Our spinal cord is made up of 32 boxes, which are connected by a fluid called synovial fluid. Bone marrow works to strengthen the spinal cord. Delivers calcium and phosphorus deep within the bones. Calcium can be absorbed well in the bones only when Vitamin D is present in good quantity.
If Vitamin D is not present within the body, even good diet and medicines do not take effect in the body. Vitamin D is a vitamin produced from sunlight, which increases the absorption of calcium in the body by 40-50 percent. The combined combination of both is a panacea for dealing with disorders ranging from spine to joints.
Vitamin D also reduces both muscle stiffness and provides relief from neck and shoulder pain. At the same time, deficiency of Vitamin D makes the bones soft and weak, due to which the synovial fluid of the joints starts sticking to the bones and the bones start weakening. Deficiency of synovial fluid causes joint pain and if the condition gets worse, knee surgery may be required.
It is better to take calcium and vitamin D from natural sources rather than supplements. For calcium, milk, curd, egg, cheese, almonds, green leafy vegetables, gram, sattu and ragi should be consumed, while for Vitamin D, stay in the morning sun for some time.
