New Delhi, November 15 (IANS). In today’s busy life, stress, fatigue and insomnia have become common problems. But these problems can be cured by practicing yoga. Viparita Karani is also the same asana, practice of which improves blood circulation and removes many problems including stress, insomnia.
The Ministry of AYUSH recommends regular practice by including Viparita Karni Asana in your daily routine. It relieves stress and insomnia, increases blood circulation in the body, calms the mind and heals the entire body.
The opposite exercise is also called ‘Legs up the Wall Pose’. In this one has to lie down with the feet resting on the wall. This asana is easy even for beginners and can be done easily at home. Experts say that practicing for 5-10 minutes daily gives better results.
Practicing Viparita Karni Asana provides many benefits. With the feet elevated, blood flows easily towards the heart. Varicose veins and swelling of legs reduces. Oxygen supply to the brain increases, which reduces stress hormone (cortisol). Doing it before sleeping leads to deep sleep. The mind becomes calm. There is slight pressure on the abdominal organs, this provides relief from constipation and indigestion. Keeping the head down increases blood circulation to the brain and provides relief from headache and migraine. Fatigue of a long day accumulates in the legs, this asana provides relief.
Yoga experts explain the method of practicing Viparita Karni Asana correctly. For this, first spread a mat on the floor near the wall. Lie down with your hips close to the wall, then place your feet upward on the wall, with the body in an L shape. Keep your hands at the sides and palms up. Close your eyes and take a deep breath and stay in it for 5-10 minutes.
Experts also advise taking some precautions. Pregnant women, high blood pressure patients, people suffering from neck or back pain should practice Viparita Karni Asana only under expert supervision. Those who have recently had stomach surgery should not do this yoga asana.
