New Delhi, February 20 (IANS). What should be done first thing in the morning? Health experts from the National Health Mission (NHM) suggest starting the day with a glass of plain water. This small habit instantly hydrates the body and infuses energy and positivity for the whole day.
According to NHM, a lot of water is lost from the body while sleeping overnight, which leads to dehydration by morning. By drinking a glass of water, this deficiency is immediately compensated and the body becomes active again.
Health experts recommend drinking 1 or 2 glasses of lukewarm water first thing in the morning. Adding lemon or honey is optional, but plain water is considered best. Avoid consuming very cold or very hot water. One should drink slowly, sip by sip, do not drink too much at once. By including this small habit in your daily routine, you can remain healthy for a long time. A day that starts with water in the morning remains fresh, full of energy and positive.
There are many benefits of drinking water on an empty stomach in the morning. It strengthens the immune system. Water helps in flushing out toxins from the body. With this, the immune system works better and the ability to fight diseases increases. Drinking water in the morning speeds up intestinal movement. The stomach remains clean and food is digested well. This also reduces problems like acidity and gas and strengthens the digestive system.
A glass of water in the morning is also helpful in weight loss. Drinking water in the morning increases metabolism. This increases calorie burning and also controls appetite, which proves helpful in reducing weight. Also, adequate water keeps the skin hydrated. This makes the face look shiny, wrinkles are reduced and problems like acne also reduce.
A glass of water also provides relief to people suffering from constipation. Drinking water in the morning maintains moisture in the intestines and makes bowel movement easier. By adopting this habit regularly, the problem of constipation can be completely eliminated.
