New Delhi, 24 September (IANS). The festival of Navratri is not only the time for religious faith and practice of power, but it is also an opportunity to purify the body and rest the digestive system. During fasting, consuming satvic diet keeps the body light and the mind concentrates.

According to Ayurveda, during this period such foods should be consumed that maintains energy and remove toxins from the body. Many types of nutritious and sattvic foods are eaten during Navratri fast, which are not only beneficial for health but also provide energy to the body and mind.

Singhara flour is the most popular option in fasting. It contains abundant calcium, iron and phosphorus, which is extremely beneficial for bones and digestion. This can make pudding, puri or cheela. Similarly, kuttu flour, also known as buckwhet, is rich in gluten-free and protein. This makes the stomach feel full for a long time and keeps the energy. Kuttu dumplings and roti are very much liked in the fast. Sago is also an important part of fasting. It is rich in carbohydrates, which gives energy immediately. The starch and calcium present in it make the body strong. Sago khichdi and kheer are considered best in fast.

Sweet potato ie Sweet Potato also has a food rich in energy. It is rich in vitamin A, C and fiber, which keep the stomach full for a long time. It can be eaten by boiling or roasting. Coconut water and its pulp are also very useful during fasting. It is a source of natural electrolytes and minerals, which protect the body from dehydration and keep digestion balanced.

Milk and curd provide calcium, protein and probiotics during fast. They protect the body from weakness and fatigue. It can be consumed by adding rock salt to yogurt or as a lassi. Along with this, nuts such as almonds, cashews, walnuts and raisins are rich in energy and omega-3 fatty acids. They help maintain mental concentration and stamina.

Fruits are also an important part of the fast. Seasonal fruits such as apples, papaya, banana, guava and pomegranate provide vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. They keep the body light and are helpful in detoxification. Herbal tea with basil and ginger also improves digestion and prevents colds. It is better to add honey instead of sugar. Rock salt is also consumed in fasting, which contains iodine, calcium and potassium, which makes the food made light and digestible.
