New Delhi, March 19 (IANS). The summer season has arrived. Staying healthy amid the scorching sun, heat wave and fire raining from the sky is no less than a challenge. In this season, it becomes difficult to stay healthy in everyday life. Ayurveda recommends consuming neem flowers to avoid the troubles of this season. These small, fragrant flowers cool the body, purify the blood, relieve stomach problems like indigestion and constipation and make the skin glow.
Everyone knows that Neem leaves are bitter, but its small flowers are no less beneficial. During summer, grandmothers often served sherbet or bhujia made from neem flowers. These flowers are not only fragrant and beautiful, but they also have many medicinal properties hidden in them which protect from the heat.
A research in Taylor & Francis Journal studied the phytochemicals of neem flowers. Testing of extracts extracted with solvents such as chloroform, ethyl acetate, ethanol and methanol found that the ethanolic extract was most effective against diabetes and cancer cells. It proved to be less harmful and more beneficial than other plant parts.
Neem flowers are considered very effective in Ayurveda. These contain anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and anti-septic properties. Consuming them daily in summer purifies the blood, brightens the face, removes acne, blemishes and skin infections. They increase the body’s immunity and also improve appetite.
Neem flowers are very useful in stomach problems. Provides relief from diseases like indigestion, constipation, gout and stomach worms. Strengthens the digestive system and keeps the stomach clean. In North India, they are eaten as Bhujia with mustard oil and a dash of cumin, while in South India, they are used in many dishes.
Drinking neem flower syrup during summer keeps the stomach cool, improves digestion, and is also effective in controlling blood sugar. In summer, scorching sun, heatwave, and rising temperatures cause many diseases. In such a situation, Neem flowers are a precious gift of nature. Their regular consumption cools the body, balances Pitta dosha, and improves health.
