Chandigarh, December 19 (IANS). Haryana Health Minister Aarti Rao said that the government believes that ‘health is everyone’s right’ and policies have been made with this thinking.
The Health Minister gave detailed information about the health services of the state in response to the question of Congress MLA Pooja Chaudhary in the Assembly. He said that the Haryana Government has taken many concrete steps over the years to strengthen the health sector, due to which the general public is getting better and accessible treatment.
He said that at present there has been a significant improvement in the figures of availability of allopathy doctors in Haryana. Today, on an average, there is one allopathy doctor available for every 1,225 people in the state. If doctors of Ayurvedic, Homeopathic and Unani systems are also included in it, then this ratio further improves to one doctor for 819 people. This situation shows that access to medical services in the state is stronger than ever.
Aarti Rao also mentioned the increase in the number of hospitals and beds. He said that 11 years ago only 700 hospital beds were available in Haryana, whereas today this number has increased to 2,710.
He said that similarly the number of district hospitals and sub-divisional hospitals was earlier 56, which has now increased to 74. The number of Community Health Centers (CHC) has also increased from 109 to 122.
The Health Minister said that after the formation of the present government, free dialysis service was started in the state, which has brought great relief to the patients suffering from kidney disease. He also clarified that even if a doctor is posted on deputation, he is still rendering his services and there is no negligence in the treatment of patients.
Minister Aarti Rao said that the government is continuously working to strengthen the health infrastructure, so that equitable and quality health facilities can be provided to the people in both rural and urban areas.
