New Delhi, April 9 (IANS). Toothache is a problem which affects daily functioning. Sometimes there is a tingling sensation due to hot or cold food, and sometimes there is severe pain due to swelling or decay in the gums. Many natural and effective remedies have been suggested in Ayurveda to reduce toothache.
First of all, let’s talk about cloves, it is one of the most effective home remedies for toothache. An element called eugenol is found in cloves, which is a natural pain reliever and antibacterial. When it is placed near the tooth or its oil is applied, it slightly numbs the nerves and prevents bacteria from growing. This is why using cloves provides immediate relief. However, it should be used only in limited quantities, as in large quantities it can cause irritation.
Neem is also considered very beneficial for teeth and gums. The antibacterial properties present in it eliminate harmful germs present in the mouth. When teeth are cleaned with Neem toothbrush, it also helps in strengthening the gums. Scientifically speaking, Neem helps in balancing the pH level of the mouth, which reduces the growth of bacteria and keeps the teeth safe for a long time.
Turmeric is also a natural substance which is effective in reducing inflammation and infection. An element called curcumin is found in it, which is anti-inflammatory and antiseptic. When turmeric is mixed with water or oil and applied on the teeth, it reduces inflammation of the gums and provides relief from pain. Besides, it also speeds up the wound healing process, due to which the gums heal quickly.
Liquorice is often known for throat problems, but it is equally beneficial for teeth. The elements present in it fight bacteria and prevent tooth decay. When licorice powder is used, it cleans the dirt accumulated on the surface of the teeth and soothes the gums. It works like a natural cleaner.
Gargling with salt water is an effective method. Gargling with lukewarm water mixed with salt reduces the bacteria in the mouth and provides relief from swelling. The properties present in salt reduce infection and keep the gums clean.
