Gandhinagar, June 19 (IANS). 24-year-old Kajal Rathod was declared brain dead at Gandhinagar Civil Hospital on Thursday. The family decided to donate his organs. After this, with the help of police officers, a green corridor was constructed and his organs were sent to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital for transplant. Despite the mountain of sorrows, the woman’s family decided to donate her organs, so that another patient could get life.
Officials said on Friday that the woman’s family decided to donate her organs after her death, after which the successful procedure was completed.
According to hospital officials, Kajal’s kidneys, pancreas and liver are suitable for donation. These organs can provide life support to another patient. Seeing that there was very little time left for the organ transplant, GMERS hospital officials approached the Gandhinagar district police and sought permission to create a green corridor so that the organs could be transported to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital for transplant as soon as possible.
After this the organs were sent by ambulance. On the instructions of senior police officers, police stations of Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad were alerted.
Police from both the cities played a vital role in streamlining the traffic and tried to ensure that the ambulances reached the hospital seamlessly. There should be no delay in reaching there.
After the arrangements made by the police officers, the ambulance reached the Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad on time.
Meanwhile, Deputy CM Harsh Sanghvi expressed grief over Kajal’s death and expressed his condolences to the family. He said that despite suffering immense pain, the family showed courage and decided to donate Kajal’s organs.
Apart from this, Sanghvi also thanked the medical staff who successfully facilitated the organ donation. Besides, he also praised the police officers of Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad, who played an important role in smoothening the transport system.
He had ordered the hospital and police team to transport the organs safely and on time with the help of grid corridor.
