New Delhi, May 31 (IANS). Increasing age brings with it many physical and mental problems. But this does not at all mean that the body should become stiff and become weak day by day. The Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India states that by regular yoga practice, the body can be kept fit, flexible and healthy even with increasing age.
Giving information, the Ministry said that the official theme of International Yoga Day 2026 (June 21) is ‘Yoga for Healthy Old Age’. Along with this, easy yogasanas have been recommended especially for the elderly. An important exercise among these is – ‘Kati Shakti Vikasak’. This easy yoga exercise mainly strengthens and makes the middle part of the body (torso) strong and flexible. This increases spinal mobility, reduces back stiffness and makes everyday tasks like bending, sitting and walking easier.
According to yoga experts, this exercise is very useful in maintaining physical activity in the elderly and improving the quality of daily life. Healthy aging is not a coincidence but the result of small and consistent efforts. Yoga is the best medium for these efforts. Regularly doing exercises like ‘Lumb Strength Developer’ not only increases physical flexibility but also improves balance, strength and health.
‘Kati Shakti Vikasak’ is an easy exercise to be done while standing. In this the waist is slowly rotated to the right and left. Do it slowly in the beginning and pay full attention to your breathing. It is better to start under the supervision of a yoga expert, especially for those who already have back or joint problems.
Regarding World Yoga Day, the Ministry is continuously giving information about the practice of new Yogasanas and the benefits derived from them. Experts believe that no matter what the age, one can live a healthy and active life through yoga. In this series, the Ministry is continuously posting posts related to many celebrities, who are also encouraging the common people towards Yoga.
