New Delhi, December 28 (IANS). Taking care of the entire body is very important during the winter season. Even after taking care many times, suddenly the whole body starts shivering due to cold, hands and feet become cold and there is difficulty in opening the mouth while speaking. These symptoms make it very difficult to understand what is happening and what to do next.
It is called ‘Winter Anxiety’ or ‘Cold-Induced Panic Attack’, about which very few people know. There can be many reasons for ‘Winter Anxiety’, but the main reason is sudden change in body temperature. When the normal body temperature falls below 35 degrees Celsius, the body begins to tremble and the muscles expand and contract rapidly. Due to this, blood circulation is also affected and nervousness and sweating start.
‘Winter anxiety’ is not only related to the body but also to the mind. In the winter season, the stress hormone cortisol increases rapidly and one starts feeling anxious, after which one feels restlessness and feels like crying without any reason. Apart from this, ‘Winter Anxiety’ can also occur in case of contraction of blood vessels or excessive pressure on them in winter.
Now the question is what to do if this happens. First of all try to calm yourself and take long and deep breaths in a good environment. This will reduce the pressure on the blood vessels and oxygen can reach the heart and brain completely. Apart from this, add salt to lukewarm water and start drinking it by taking small sips. This method helps to calm the nervous system.
In case of ‘winter anxiety’, rub both hands together and place them behind the eyes and ears. The nerves present there help in controlling body temperature. If you are feeling very shivering and cold then take support of a thick blanket and ask someone to hug you over the blanket. This is called deep touch pressure, which provides warmth as well as protection.
