New Delhi, April 26 (IANS). Home-cooked food is often considered the healthiest, but is home-cooked food alone enough? The truth is that no. Homemade food becomes completely healthy only when it is cooked properly. This means not only bringing good food, but the way of cooking it is also equally important. If the cooking method is wrong, even nutritious things provide less benefit.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development posted on social media that home-cooked food is beneficial for health only when it is prepared properly. Many times people ignore or do some things wrong while cooking, due to which all the nutrition in the food is lost and it is used only to fill the stomach. Therefore it is very important to adopt right cooking tips.

Boiling vegetables for too long can destroy the vitamins and minerals present in them. Therefore, it is better to lightly steam the vegetables or cook them in less water. This saves their nutrition and also keeps their taste good. Try not to overcook the vegetables.

The second important thing is the use of oil. Many people use too much oil in cooking, which makes the food heavy and unhealthy. Always use limited quantity of oil and keep in mind that do not heat and use the same oil again and again. Due to this, harmful substances can form in it.

It is very beneficial to soak pulses and grains for a few hours before cooking them. Due to this, they cook quickly and are also easy to digest. Some things like sprouted gram or moong are even more nutritious when eaten.

Nowadays people like to drink juice, but the real benefit lies in eating whole fruits. Whole fruits contain fiber which keeps the stomach full for a long time and is good for digestion. Therefore, eating fruits instead of juice is a better option.

Another important thing is the correct use of spices. Adding too many spices can make the food heavy. Use of light and balanced spices makes food tasty and also keeps it healthy.

Along with this, try to eat freshly prepared food. Food prepared a long time ago or reheated may be slightly less nutritious.
