New Delhi, November 2 (IANS). Nowadays, a new trend called ‘Loaded Water’ or ‘Enhanced Water’ is growing rapidly in the market. It may sound like ordinary water, but it is a drink that is enriched with vitamins, minerals, electrolytes or herbal extracts to make it not just a thirst quencher but an energizing and nourishing drink.
Loaded water is considered different from ordinary bottled water because ingredients are added to it that provide additional benefits to the body such as vitamin C, D, B12, calcium, zinc, electrolytes, or even collagen and biotin.
Some brands also add fruit flavors, green tea extract, or antioxidants to add flavor and benefits.
People are now moving towards not just hydration but ‘functional beverages’ i.e. drinks that provide taste as well as health. This trend is becoming very popular among the youth who work out, fitness lovers and those who are dieting. Many people also consider it a healthy alternative to sports drinks. Many stars in our country are seen using loaded water like this. Like Akshay Kumar’s detox water also falls in this category. Khiladi Kumar’s water contains ingredients like lemon, cucumber and mint.
According to experts, if you are getting adequate nutrition and a balanced diet throughout the day, then there is no need for loaded water. But if you frequently travel, are busy, or need to maintain electrolyte balance, this may be a smart choice. Just keep in mind that some brands also add sugar or artificial flavors in it, which are not good for health.
Experts are of the opinion that it would be better if it is made at home instead of in the market. Can prepare easily at home. Start with filtered or boiled and cooled water or a pitcher of antioxidant-rich green tea. Prepare the fruits. Try electrolyte-rich options like watermelon, citrus fruits, lemons or oranges. Don’t leave all the ingredients in the water for too long – the peels of citrus fruits can make the water bitter, and the watermelon can become soggy. Keep the infused water in a sealed container or jug in the refrigerator. Consume it within two to three days.
