New Delhi, December 2 (IANS). In winter, the body needs warm, light and nutritious food. In such a situation, vegetable soup is considered the best option. It not only provides warmth to the body, but also increases immunity, maintains proper digestion and also provides instant energy. Soup powders available in the market are often filled with flour, MSG, preservatives and flavours, which are not healthy for anyone, children or adults. Therefore making veg soup powder at home is the best and safest way.

To make soup powder at home, first take seven most nutritious vegetables (carrot, tomato, beetroot, capsicum, cabbage, peas and ginger). All of these are rich in vitamins A, C, K and iron, which strengthen immunity in winter. Cook them in steam or low boil so that the nutrients are not lost. After this, dry the vegetables completely and grind them finely. If you want, you can also add black pepper, turmeric, celery and rock salt to it. This powder not only enhances the taste but also provides warmth, flavor and medicinal properties.

Keep the fine powder in an air-tight jar, it will not spoil for 3-4 months. To make the soup, simply take a tablespoon of powder, add a cup of hot water and add some ghee or butter. Healthy, hot and nutritious soup is ready in just 2 minutes. It is a light and easily digestible option for children, elderly and sick people.

The benefits of this soup are many. It balances digestion and reduces bloating or heaviness. The Vitamin C and beta-carotene present in it instantly boosts immunity. Warming vegetables and spices increase blood circulation in the body and reduce winter stiffness. Being light, high-fibre and low-calorie, it also helps in controlling weight.

People often drink less water in winter, which increases the risk of dehydration. It causes problems like headache, fatigue, dry skin, dark color of urine and weakness. The elderly, children and pregnant women are particularly sensitive. Simple precautions like drinking lukewarm water, drinking small amounts of water throughout the day and consuming soups or herbal drinks keep the body hydrated.
