New Delhi, June 21 (IANS). The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) celebrated the 12th International Yoga Day in collaboration with its public sector undertakings, Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) and Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) at Sunder Nursery on Sunday.
The event was organized in line with this year’s global theme, ‘Yoga for Healthy Aging’, which highlights the role of yoga in promoting physical strength, mental health and healthy aging in people of all age groups.
The program was led by Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Secretary, MNRE. Sarangi described yoga as a lifestyle and encouraged everyone to make it a daily practice at home or office for better mental and physical health.
The group yoga session was attended by a large number of participants, reflecting the growing recognition of yoga as an integral part of a healthy and balanced lifestyle. The event also served as a platform to promote awareness about preventive health care and overall wellness.
The event reaffirmed MNRE’s commitment towards promoting a clean workplace culture and ensuring the well-being of its employees, as well as advancing the country’s clean energy and sustainable development goals.
Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) also celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 in collaboration with Airports Authority of India (AAI).
Civil Aviation Secretary Sameer Kumar Sinha urged the participants not to limit themselves to just a one-day event, but to include yoga in their daily lives.
Sinha said that yoga, pranayam and meditation should be an integral part of our daily life. Making time for these practices every day contributes significantly to better health, increased energy, more discipline, and a balanced lifestyle.
International Academic Year 2026 was organized by the Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Personnel and Training, Ministry of External Affairs and Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser, Government of India.
Rohit Kansal, Secretary, Department of Rural Development, along with other senior officials led the department’s participation in the program. He encouraged the officers and employees to make yoga a part of their daily routine for a healthier and more productive lifestyle.
