New Delhi, March 18 (IANS). Chaitra Navratri, the festival of worship of Goddess Bhagwati, is starting from 19th March. During this time, many flowers and leaves are offered to worship Goddess Durga. Although Tulsi is prohibited in the worship of Goddess, but there is a special Tulsi plant, which is very dear to Goddess Bhagwati. This is Dauna which is also called Davana, Marua or Van Tulsi.
It is believed that ordinary Tulsi should not be offered to the Goddess, but Dauna leaves and flowers are especially dear to Goddess Durga. Offering it during Navratri pleases the Mother Goddess and brings positive energy to the house. Dauna is a small, aromatic medicinal plant, which grows 1-2 feet high. Its leaves are cut like chrysanthemum and have a strong, pleasant fragrance. This fragrance is so attractive that it can beat even branded perfumes.
In religious tradition, Dauna is also considered dear to Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi, but especially during Navratri, there is a tradition of offering its flowers and leaves to Mother Durga. According to Vastu Shastra, by planting Dauna plant in the house, Goddess Lakshmi’s blessings remain, the environment remains pure and there is happiness and prosperity in the family.
It not only makes the puja complete but also makes the house fragrant and also provides health benefits. The plant can be easily grown at home and despite being small, it has miraculous effects.
The medicinal properties of this plant are also amazing. In Ayurveda, Dauna has been said to be very beneficial in cough, vata, worm diseases, poison, swelling, joint pain, cold, cough, cold, chronic fever, uterine pain and stomach problems. It is also helpful in increasing bile, relieving pain and healing wounds. The leaves, seeds, stalks and roots are all used medicinally.
According to the US National Library of Medicine, researchers analyzed several studies and found that consuming basil helps improve diabetes, heart disease, stress and mental health. Most importantly, no study found any serious harm from consuming basil.
Especially Van Tulsi is rich in antioxidants, which protect the body from free radicals. Forest Tulsi, rich in medicinal properties, has a special place in Ayurveda and is used as a tonic, which is effective in increasing the energy and vitality of the body.
The aroma of Van Tulsi is also strong, which also naturally repels mosquitoes and keeps the air pure. Consuming Van Tulsi provides many benefits. It strengthens the respiratory system, helps in removing mucus and provides relief from respiratory problems like asthma, bronchitis, cough.
