New Delhi, 25 September (IANS). Researchers at National Institute of Technology Rourkela (NIT Rourkela) have developed a low -cost and indigenous force plate which is quite economical. It is claimed that this will relieve heel pain.
Heel pain is one of the most common diseases of the feet in adults. It is often associated with excessive loads of plants Facia (a strip of tissue that supports the arch of the foot).
However, in many cases, changes in the fatty tissue (heel pad) located under the heel can also cause problems. When we stand, run or walk, this problem acts as a shock observer. When there is too much pressure, the heel pad loses its ability to relax the foot, causing pain and restlessness. This condition can also be caused by aging, injury, obesity, diabetes and poor fitting shoes.
The new force plate works by measuring multi-relative geopolitical force (GRF). The GRF measured from the force plate is used to diagnose unusual trick patterns.
This device will be useful in sports academics, educational institutions, hospitals and rehabilitation centers in India, as it is economical compared to existing foreign suppliers.
Prof. of IIT Roorkee A. Tiruganam said, “Most neuromuscular disorders affect the person’s move. Since the move requires accurate coordination of muscle strength and balance, any of which can change the methods of disturbances and the respective GRF.”
“Some common neuromuscular diseases such as myopathy, peripheral neuropathy, neuromuscular junction disorders, spasticity, attachies, Parkinson’s disease, cerebral palsy etc. can change GRF. In GRF, these abnormalities can be diagnosed using force plate.”
The force plate is recognized globally as a clinical tool required for analysis of human musculoskeletal health. Due to high cost and lack of Indian manufacturers, its availability in India has been limited.
Imported force plate usually costs between Rs 30-50 lakhs. The cost of indigenously developed force plate will be between about 8 to 10 lakh rupees, which will reduce the cost by about 70-85 percent, making it an affordable option.
