New Delhi, March 5 (IANS). Nowadays the complaint of poor eyesight has become common. People rush to wear glasses or change lenses, but do you know that the easiest and most effective way to keep eyes healthy is hidden in your plate?
According to the National Health Mission, glasses are the solution to the problem, but real protection comes from nutrients. A balanced and nutritious diet not only strengthens vision but also prevents many serious eye diseases that come with ageing.
Including these things in your plate daily can maintain eye health for a long time. If there is any problem in the eyes, then definitely consult a doctor.
Glasses may be necessary for the eyes, but due to lack of nutrients, eyesight gradually weakens. Elements like Vitamin A, C, E, Zinc, Omega-3 fatty acids and Lutein in these food items keep the eye cells healthy, strengthen the retina and prevent problems like cataract, macular degeneration.
The National Health Mission is making people aware that eye care can be done at home by including some special things in the daily plate. In such a situation, definitely include some nutritious things in the plate for the eyes.
Eat carrots daily, which are rich in vitamin A (beta-carotene), which improves night vision and keeps the eye membranes healthy. Eat it in raw salad, juice or as a vegetable. Eat green leafy vegetables like spinach, fenugreek, mustard greens, and broccoli, which contain antioxidants like lutein and zeaxanthin. These protect the retina and prevent age-related eye diseases.
Along with these, eat almonds in limited quantity daily. Almonds are rich in Vitamin E, which protects the eye cells from free radicals. It is beneficial to eat 5 to 10 almonds soaked or directly daily. At the same time, Amla, oranges and other citrus fruits, kiwi and lemon contain Vitamin C in abundance. It strengthens the blood vessels around the eyes and reduces the risk of cataracts.
Apart from this, eat eggs, fish, flax seeds or walnuts, which will provide Omega-3. These help in keeping eyesight sharp and reducing the effects of aging.
