New Delhi, 8 September (IANS). In today’s time, life is so full that food is also eaten in a hurry. Junk food has now become common in the plates of homes. The taste of food is found, but gradually this food tired the body and makes the mind restless.
Ayurveda has been saying for thousands of years that food is not just a thing to fill the stomach, it shapes our body, mind, intellect, and even emotions.
According to Ayurveda, freshly made food is sattvic. This food should be eaten within a few hours of cooking, because till then it remains’ life power, ie life energy. 8 hours after cooking, the same food becomes royal, and then becomes ‘tamasic’, that is, a food that brings lethargy, heaviness and mental exhaustion to the body.
Science also confirms this. According to the American National Library of Medicine, people who consume more of fresh, home -made food are better. They fall less sick and stay away from problems like obesity, depression and diabetes.
On the other hand, people who have repeatedly heated or kept stale food for a long time, their digestion is weak, toxins are formed in the body and the mind becomes irritable.
It has a profound effect, especially on children and youth. Children who eat more junk food and cold food are less concentrated, they get tired quickly and may be a victim of anger or sadness.
Fresh and satvic food not only keeps their metabolism right, but also improves mental stability and behavior.
This is the reason that both Ayurveda and science insist on the fact that food should be eaten on time and calm mind, so that it can nourish the body but also the mind.
