New Delhi, October 15 (IANS). The first step to adopt a healthy lifestyle is to eat well. Time is short but food should be healthy and tasty and should be prepared in less time.

The best option for this is porridge, which can be prepared in different ways and its nutritional value can be increased. This is a superfood that people of all ages can eat, but it is very important to know at what time porridge should be eaten.

Porridge is easy to digest and is beneficial for the body. Oatmeal has the ability to reduce “bad” cholesterol, thereby reducing the risk of cholesterol and reducing pressure on the heart. Along with this, oatmeal also contains magnesium and potassium, which help in controlling high BP to a great extent. Consuming porridge does not increase weight, because it is considered a very light food. Porridge contains both fiber and calories, which prevents hunger and also prevents weight gain.

Oatmeal helps the digestive system to function properly. There are two types of fiber present in porridge, first is soluble fiber and second is insoluble fiber. This also removes the problem of constipation. If you are suffering from anemia then porridge can be a great option. Oatmeal contains plenty of iron, which removes anemia in the body and also plays an important role in the formation of blood cells.

Eating porridge is beneficial, but the way it is prepared can also double the benefits of eating it. Make porridge with milk, but do not use sugar in it, instead add jaggery or honey. Additionally, dry fruits can also be added to it. Apart from this, you can also make porridge with moong dal. Moong dal porridge is the most nutritious because it contains protein and fiber together. Both can be taken from breakfast to dinner.

Porridge made from vegetables is also good for health. Porridge can also be made with spinach, carrots, and peas. This will give the porridge the goodness of all the green vegetables. You can eat it anytime of the day or night. Some precautions should also be taken while eating porridge. Excessive consumption of porridge can also harm the stomach. In such a situation, problems like diarrhea, vomiting and constipation may occur.
