New Delhi, February 21 (IANS). Yoga is the most effective way for those who want a healthy lifestyle. By doing yoga regularly and taking a balanced diet, not only the body remains fit, but the mind also remains calm and concentrated. In this series, Siddhasana is one such yoga asana, which people have been doing since ancient times.
Siddhasana is considered the most important meditation asana. ‘Siddha’ means ‘complete’ or ‘knowledgeable’. This is a yoga posture in which the focus is placed on the perineum with the heel of one foot on the perineum and the heel of the other foot on the genitalia, while keeping the spine straight.
If Siddhasana is practiced regularly, it provides relief in digestion and many other physical and mental diseases like asthma and diabetes. Along with this, this asana stretches the hips, knees and ankles.
The method of doing this is quite easy. To do this, first of all sit on the yoga mat in Dandasana posture. After this, bend the left leg at the knee and place the heel firmly in the middle of the perineum. After this, bend the right foot and place its heel just above the heel of the left foot. Trap the toes of the right foot in the joint between the thigh and calf of the left leg. Now keep the spine, neck and head absolutely straight and concentrate by closing your eyes.
The Ministry of AYUSH has described it as a very important meditation posture, which is considered a major yogic activity in the Siddha system of medicine for purifying the body’s nerves, raising the vital energy and calming the mind. It keeps the spine straight, aids in celibacy, improves digestion, and provides a stable posture for meditation and pranayam.
Its regular practice provides many benefits. If someone has pain in their knees or hips, do it with caution or take the support of a chair. People with high blood pressure should be cautious while taking deep breaths or doing pranayama.
