Preparations for ‘Health Mahakumbh’ in Uttarakhand fast, special campaign from 17 September to 2 October

Dehradun, 10 September (IANS). The Uttarakhand government has intensified preparations for the upcoming ‘Health Mahakumbh’. This campaign will start from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, September 17 and will run till Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, 2 October. During this period, health -related activities will be organized across the state.

Health Department Secretary R.K. Rajesh Kumar said that under the direction of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Health Minister Dhan Singh Rawat, the state government is preparing for ‘Health Fortnight’. This campaign will be run according to the guidelines of the Union Ministry of Health.

Talking to the news agency IANS, he said, “According to the central government instructions, this campaign will be organized on ‘Healthy women, strong family’ theme from September 17 to October 2. Under this, health camps will be organized in all health facilities from Ayushman Arogya temples to district and sub-district hospitals.”

The Health Secretary said that the campaign will focus on three major areas, including health screening, blood donation camps and darling friend initiatives of children and women. He informed that according to the instructions of the Central Government, a target has been set to collect about one lakh units of blood from Uttarakhand. The ‘Dhiya Mitra’ program will be promoted to help TB patients.

R. Rajesh Kumar said that the Chief Minister and Health Minister have given instructions to organize camps at all levels. Participation of public representatives and general public will be ensured in this campaign. He appealed, “The Health Department requests all departments and public representatives to adopt one TB patient, so that the purpose of this campaign can be fulfilled.”

The Health Department will organize 4604 camps across the state. Private medical colleges, nursing colleges and private health institutions will also be added to this campaign. The official said that their resources and human forces would be used in public interest. Expert doctors of medical colleges will be given duty in health camps. This will provide expert consultation and treatment to patients from rural and remote areas.
