New Delhi, April 2 (IANS). Women have to face many problems during pregnancy and one of the common problems is indigestion or loss of appetite. Often women feel that they do not feel like eating, their stomach feels heavy or uncomfortable. This is completely normal but if ignored, the health of both mother and child can be affected. Therefore, it is very important to understand it immediately and take correct measures.
Consuming hot water is considered very beneficial during pregnancy. Drinking warm water at small intervals throughout the day keeps the stomach light and comfortable. Eat light and easily digestible food. Eating too much oily, spicy, heavy or old food puts a burden on the stomach and can increase the problem of indigestion.
Some household spices and herbal items are also very helpful. Things like cumin, celery, fennel, asafoetida and ginger are effective in reducing stomach problems. Use them sparingly in food. Always eat fresh and hot food. Eating cold or old food increases the risk of stomach upset.
There are some easy home remedies also. In case of loss of appetite or indigestion, take 1-2 grams of roasted cumin powder before eating. If there is more need then it can be done for 1 week. Taking ginger and coriander powder with honey or jaggery twice a day also keeps the stomach light.
Apart from this, the mixture of haritaki, ginger, celery and rock salt is also very beneficial. Taking it in the quantity of 3-6 grams twice a day reduces the problem of indigestion and loss of appetite. Do this remedy until the problem is completely eliminated.
If serious problems like jaundice, excessive weight loss or severe stomach pain appear along with indigestion, contact a doctor immediately. Sometimes it can also be a sign of some serious problem.
