Jaipur, November 3 (IANS). Indira Devi, wife of Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani, died on Monday at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur. He breathed his last in the medical ICU during treatment.
According to the hospital administration, Indira Devi’s treatment was continuing under the supervision of doctors, but her condition remained critical. He could not be saved despite medical efforts.
The news of Indira Devi’s demise has created a wave of mourning in the political and social circles of the state. After completion of the formalities, his body was taken from SMS Hospital to the Assembly Speaker’s official residence in Civil Lines, where it was kept for some time for paying homage.
His mortal remains will be taken to Ajmer on Tuesday morning. Departure from Jaipur will be at 6 am. The last procession will leave from the family’s residence in Ajmer at 10:30 am on Tuesday and the last rites will be performed at Rishi Ghati cremation ground.
According to the information, a few days ago Indira Devi suddenly fainted at home. The family immediately took him to the nearest hospital, but when his health deteriorated, he was admitted to the emergency ward of SMS Hospital.
During the investigation, the special medical board constituted under the direction of Hospital Superintendent Dr. Mrinal Joshi found that she was suffering from asthma and other chronic diseases.
About a year ago also he had a sudden health problem and even then he was kept on ventilator support for a few days. This time too, despite intensive treatment, his condition did not improve.
Indira Devi was a retired school teacher and was suffering from health problems for a long time.
Vasudev Devnani, born in Ajmer in 1948, married Indira Devi in 1974. The couple has one son and two daughters.
Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Vasudev Devnani represents Ajmer North Assembly constituency and is serving as the Rajasthan Assembly Speaker from the year 2023.
On Monday, Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde reached Devnani’s residence and paid tribute and expressed condolences to the bereaved family.
