New Delhi, March 13 (IANS). Sapota fruit is not only delicious in taste but its medicinal properties make it a natural health enhancer. It is extremely beneficial for the heart, blood vessels and kidneys.
According to the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, consumption of sapota helps a lot in improving heart health. It proves effective in keeping the heart and blood circulation better. Potassium, magnesium, iron, vitamin C, vitamin A and fiber are found in abundance in this small fruit. All these elements together improve the health of the heart and blood vessels. Potassium helps in controlling blood pressure, which reduces the risk of high blood pressure. Magnesium relaxes blood vessels and prevents plaque accumulation in the arteries. This reduces the chances of serious problems like heart attack and stroke.
Sapota also has a special place in Ayurveda. Sapota is also helpful in removing blood deficiency or anemia. The iron and folic acid present in it help in the formation of red blood cells. Eating sapota regularly increases hemoglobin level and improves oxygen circulation in the body. It also keeps the kidneys healthy.
The anti-oxidants present in sapota remove toxins from the body and do not put extra burden on the kidneys. Apart from this, sapota contains good amount of fiber, which reduces cholesterol level. By reducing bad cholesterol (LDL), the arteries remain clean and blood flow becomes smooth.
Sapota is a cheap, easily available and tasty fruit, which also keeps the digestive system healthy, thereby reducing problems like indigestion and constipation. However, diabetic patients should take it in limited quantities and as per doctor’s advice, as it contains natural sugar.
