Bhopal, May 14 (IANS). Severe heat wave continued in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday also. The Bhopal-based India Meteorological Department (IMD) center issued a detailed weather bulletin informing about the sharp rise in temperature in many parts of the state.
According to the data recorded on May 14, 2026, the state is witnessing extreme conditions like severe heat wave, hot nights and sporadic rain, thunderstorm and hailstorm.
Khajuraho in Chhatarpur district recorded the state’s highest maximum temperature of 45.4 degrees Celsius.
Other cities that witnessed scorching heat included Ratlam (45.2 degrees Celsius) and Dhar (45 degrees Celsius).
In contrast, Pachmarhi recorded a minimum temperature of 19.4 degrees Celsius, the lowest.
The weather report said that the maximum temperature remained almost constant in the last 24 hours, but it was much higher than normal in Indore and Ujjain divisions.
Districts like Dhar, Ratlam and Khajuraho have already recorded heat wave conditions, while residents of Indore and Ujjain faced uncomfortably hot nights.
IMD has issued a warning that heat wave conditions will continue in many districts including Guna, Rajgarh and Gwalior.
Bhopal and surrounding areas are likely to have partly cloudy sky, and the temperature is expected to hover around 43 degrees Celsius.
Despite the extreme heat of the weather, some areas received light rainfall.
Sporadic rainfall was recorded in Jabalpur and Shahdol divisions, with Khairlanji receiving 11.2 mm rainfall.
There was hailstorm in some areas including Seoni, while there was a dust storm in Satna.
Strong winds were seen at many places, with a speed of up to 52 km per hour recorded in Chitrakoot.
Officials have advised people to drink adequate amount of water and avoid exposure to direct sunlight between 12 noon and 3 pm.
Farmers have also been advised to irrigate frequently and use mulching techniques to protect crops from rising temperatures.
The state administration is alert about the worsening heat situation in view of the possibility of the temperature increasing by another two to three degrees Celsius in the next three days.
