Chamoli, 17 September (IANS). The Central Government’s Major Health Scheme ‘Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana’ is proving to be a life guard for thousands of people in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. More than 72 percent of people here are availing free health insurance.
According to official data, 2,29,384 people are currently registered under this scheme in Chamoli district. Out of these, more than 51,000 beneficiaries have availed free treatment in both various hospitals, government and private.
Pawan Kumar, admitted to the district hospital Gopeshwar for a week, said that his treatment was completely free due to Ayushman card.
He said, “This scheme is a boon for the poor. Ayushman Card saved me from financial burden. I thank PM Modi and the Central Government. This scheme is a boon for the poor like me. I hope that our country keeps on growing in this way.”
Another beneficiary Surendra Singh Kandari said that my wife had a complaint of stomach ache, after which the stone was detected in the checkup. With the help of Ayushman card, his successful operation was free.
He said, “This scheme made our lives easy. I thank the Central Government and Prime Minister Modi, due to which we got the benefit of Ayushman Yojana.”
The beneficiary Shobhit Singh said that his grandmother was admitted to the district hospital when he deteriorated his health. All investigations were free due to Ayushman card.
He said, “This scheme is a big support for poor families. I thank the government and Prime Minister Modi.”
The scheme, which started under the National Health Policy of 2017, has been designed to meet the target of Universal Health Coverage (UHC). The scheme provides financial security from health expenses and is in line with India’s sustainable development goals and the commitment of ‘no one left behind’.
