Nowadays, high cholesterol has become a common problem, which increases the risk of heart disease and stroke. Controlling bad cholesterol (LDL) and increasing good cholesterol (HDL) is very important for heart health. For this, along with medicine, healthy diet and healthy lifestyle is also required. Therefore, today we are going to tell you about some food items that can help in reducing LDL and increasing HDL in your body. Keep in mind that these food items will be effective only if you take the medicines prescribed by your doctor.

flax seeds

Flax seeds are very good for heart health. They contain fiber and omega-3 fatty acid called ALA, which helps in reducing bad cholesterol. Fiber slows the absorption of bad cholesterol in the intestines, while ALA reduces inflammation and strengthens blood vessels. Ground flax seeds or flaxseed oil may help reduce bad cholesterol, especially in people who already have high cholesterol. You can easily add it to smoothies, oatmeal, yogurt or baked goods.

green tea

Green tea contains antioxidants called catechins, which help in reducing bad cholesterol. Drinking green tea daily improves cholesterol levels and reduces the risk of heart disease. These antioxidants reduce cholesterol absorption in the body and help the liver to remove it.

cinnamon

Cinnamon found in our kitchen is a medicinal herb. It helps in reducing bad cholesterol and increasing good cholesterol. The polyphenols present in it reduce inflammation and damage in the body, which improves heart health. Eating up to 2 grams of cinnamon daily is considered beneficial. You can use it in tea or as a spice in vegetables.

Turmeric

Turmeric contains a compound called curcumin, which reduces inflammation. Curcumin helps the liver function properly and helps reduce cholesterol by reducing inflammation in the arteries. Consuming turmeric or curcumin daily helps in maintaining cholesterol balance. You can eat it by adding it to vegetables, milk or tea. But do not take turmeric supplements without consulting a doctor.

coriander seeds

Coriander seeds are commonly used as a spice, but they also provide many health benefits. Their water helps in reducing bad cholesterol (LDL) and increasing good cholesterol (HDL). The antioxidants and vitamins present in them help the body to process fat properly and protect against heart disease. You can also drink their water on an empty stomach in the morning.
