New Delhi, 26 September (IANS). The holy Tulsi that grows on the land of India has been called a herb in Ayurveda like a mother. This is very important not only from religious point of view, but also from the point of view of health. Consumption of basil is helpful in balanced all three defects Vata, Pitta and Kapha.
Tulsi decoction is an Ayurvedic drink that is prepared by boiling basil leaves with other medicinal spices and herbs like ginger, black pepper, cinnamon, liquorice etc. This not only increases the immunity of the body, but also prevents seasonal infections.
The risk of rain infection is high, as dirt, contaminated water and germs spread rapidly during the rainy season. Tulsi decoction protects them from antibacterial and antiviral properties. At the same time, cold and phlegm diseases become common in winter, causing problems like cold, cough and sore throat. The decoction of basil removes phlegm and provides warmth to the body. In addition, it acts as a immunity booster by increasing the body’s immunity, which is particularly beneficial for children and the elderly.
To make Tulsi decoction, take a glass of water and add 5-7 basil leaves to it. Add 1 inch piece of ginger, 3-4 black pepper and a little cinnamon and boil it till half the water. If you want, a little honey can be added when it is cold for taste. Drinking this decoction 1-2 times a day is beneficial.
Tulsi decoction relieves cold and cough, cleans the throat by removing mucus and phlegm, is beneficial in fever like viral and malaria, strengthens the digestive system and reduces gas, indigestion and stomach pain. It helps in removing toxic elements from the body and protects the heart and respiratory system.
In the Charaka Samhita, Tulsi is described as an anthelmintic and coffee, while the Sushruta Samhita describes respiratory diseases and poisonous drugs. Tulsi plants release both day and night time, which makes it special from normal plants.
It has been proved in modern researches that Tulsi is beneficial in H1N1, dengue, malaria and normal colds. Its phytochemicals protect the DNA of cells from breaking, so it is also called natural cancer.
