New Delhi, February 15 (IANS). Be it breathing problems or rapidly increasing weight or other physical and mental problems, in today’s time, making yoga a part of daily routine is the best option to stay healthy and get rid of these problems. Both body and mind remain healthy through yoga. Experts recommend regular practice of beneficial Ardhachakrasana.
Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) considers Ardhachakrasana as a very beneficial yoga asana, which is especially helpful in increasing the flexibility of the spine, relieving back pain, respiratory problems or increasing weight problems as well as improving physical health.
This is also known as half wheel pose. This pose is quite simple and effective even for those whose yoga practice is at the beginning level. With regular practice, it has a positive effect not only on the physical but also on the mental level.
According to experts, to do Ardhachakrasana, stand straight, keep the feet shoulder-width apart and keep both the hands hanging along the body. Now slowly take both hands behind the waist and take a deep breath and slowly tilt the head backwards, feeling a slight stretch in the neck. Then bend the upper body backwards from the waist, keeping the breathing normal, maintain this position for 10 to 30 seconds. Start with less time in the beginning and increase gradually. Finally, slowly straighten the head and body, leave the hands and come to normal position. This can be repeated 3 to 5 times.
There are many important benefits of this asana. It makes the spine strong and flexible, thereby providing relief from back pain, waist pain and stiffness in the shoulders. The muscles of the shoulders, arms, chest and back become stronger. Increasing lung capacity improves respiratory problems such as asthma. Digestion improves and problems like constipation go away. Stress, anxiety and mental disturbance are reduced. Posture improves, excess fat in the upper back reduces and thyroid and pituitary glands remain active.
However, it is important to take some precautions. If there is any old injury, severe pain or problem like slipped disc in spine, neck, shoulder, waist or wrist then this asana should not be done. People suffering from high blood pressure, heart disease, glaucoma, migraine or frequent dizziness should avoid it. If you have had any surgery during pregnancy or recently, then definitely consult a doctor or yoga expert.
