New Delhi, February 7 (IANS). Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda on Saturday appealed to the youth to work responsibly and do something for the society.

Addressing the 2025-26 convocation of Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI), JP Nadda said that this is not just the end of an academic journey. This is the beginning of a new era of responsibility towards the country and society.

He emphasized that the passing out students are fortunate to be starting their professional lives in the second phase of the Amrit Kaal, which will last till 2047, when India aspires to become a fully developed country.

Nadda said that this period has brought many opportunities and equally big responsibilities; The youth should contribute in the right way in the development of the country. Always have the feeling that the society has helped them in their success and in return they should give back by serving the society selflessly and in the right way.

He also urged the students to move forward with strong values, ethical behavior and commitment to public service. During this, he also emphasized on the transformative progress achieved under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last 11 years.

JP Nadda said that earlier there were only six AIIMS, now 23 have been established, creating a strong network of state-of-the-art healthcare institutions across the country. He further said that India has made significant progress across healthcare indicators, ranging from maternal and child health to infectious and non-communicable diseases, especially TB and malaria cases and deaths.

The Minister also stressed on the significant reduction in out-of-pocket expenditure on healthcare, with initiatives like Ayushman Bharat, Ayushman Arogya Mandir and large-scale population screening programmes, making healthcare more accessible and affordable.

A total of 2,150 students from various disciplines including engineering, management, law, education, science and healthcare were awarded degrees during the convocation ceremony. It comprised 521 undergraduate students, 58 postgraduate students and 11 doctoral scholars, marking a significant academic achievement for the group of graduating students.
