New Delhi, April 19 (IANS). In today’s fast-paced life, stress, fatigue and mental burden are troubling everyone. Work pressure, lack of sleep and constant worries are making both body and mind weaker day by day. In such a situation, Yoga Nidra is the easiest, effective and scientific way to recharge yourself.

Yoga Nidra is also called ‘Yogic Sleep’. It is neither complete sleep nor a state of wakefulness. It is a state of deep relaxation in between the two, in which the body remains completely relaxed but the mind remains completely aware and alert.

According to Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, regular practice of Yoga Nidra rejuvenates the body and calms the mind. This is not a difficult yoga asana, but a method of deep relaxation which any person, of any age, can do easily.

To practice Yoga Nidra, first come into Shavasana pose. In this, lie straight on your back, leave your hands and legs loose, close your eyes and leave the body completely relaxed. Exercises are done with the help of an instructor or guided audio. In this, attention is focused on every part of the body sequentially – from toes to the head. The focus is on breathing and the mind is freed from thoughts. The entire session usually lasts 20 to 40 minutes.

To practice Yoga Nidra, it is better to initially learn under the supervision of a yoga instructor. Yoga Nidra reduces stress and anxiety rapidly. Removes the problem of insomnia and induces deep sleep. Improves concentration and memory and controls blood pressure. Reduces stress hormone (cortisol) and strengthens the immune system. Maintains emotional balance.

The biggest advantage of Yoga Nidra is that it recharges both the body and mind in a very short time. Just 20-30 minutes of exercise can remove the fatigue of the day. Experts recommend practicing Yoga Nidra at a fixed time every day. It is best to do it in the evening or after noon. For this, choose a quiet and comfortable place where there is no sound or disturbance.
