Diseases like fatty liver, kidney damage and heart attack have become quite common, and the biggest reason for this is considered to be poor lifestyle. Our bad habits in youth take us closer to diseases in old age. People often think of their 20s as a carefree and passionate time. At this age, it is common to build a career, fulfill dreams and live life to the fullest. However, this is also the age when our daily habits impact our health in the long run. Therefore, if you want to protect yourself from diseases and live a healthy and long life, then you have to eliminate these habits from your life from now on.

Dr. Sadhvik Raghuram Y, medical oncologist at Arete Hospital, Hyderabad, shared a post on Instagram, explaining that some bad habits in one’s 20s can increase the risk of cancer later. “You may think you’re strong right now, but the cells in your body remember everything,” he says.

not getting enough sleep
If you stay up late every night and do not get enough sleep, this habit can be harmful. According to Dr. Raghuram, sleep controls the biological clock of our body. Prolonged lack of sleep prevents the body’s cells from repairing themselves, which can increase the risk of cancer.

Eating junk and processed food daily
Packaged, deep-fried and fast foods contain less nutrients and more chemicals. Eating like this increases inflammation in the body and worsens stomach health, which may be related to cancer in the long run. Therefore, stopping junk food consumption completely can be your first step towards a healthy life.

sitting for long periods of time
If you sit in a chair all day and do not move your body, be careful. Sitting continuously for 8-10 hours can increase the risk of colon and breast cancer. It is important to move around a little every hour, especially for those who have desk jobs in the office.

Ignoring Vitamin D Deficiency
Vitamin D is not only important for bones, but also plays an important role in preventing cancer. Therefore, it is very important to overcome the deficiency of Vitamin D in the body. Doctors also recommend getting your vitamin D levels checked regularly, correcting any deficiencies, and maintaining the correct levels.

smoking or vaping occasionally
People often think that smoking occasionally or just on the weekends will not cause any harm. But Dr. Raghuram warns that even a little smoking damages DNA, which can later lead to cancer. Dr. Raghuram says that cancer does not occur suddenly, but develops gradually over many years. If a healthy lifestyle is adopted from the age of 20, the risk of cancer in future can be significantly reduced.
