Adani Defense and Aerospace has taken a big step in the aviation sector in India. On January 27, 2026, the company has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer. The main objective of this agreement is to set up a factory for manufacturing and assembly of regional aircraft in India.
What is the purpose of this agreement?
Under this partnership, a ‘Final Assembly Line’ (FAL) will be set up in India. Civil aircraft will be manufactured here. This will be the first private sector project in India where commercial aircraft will be manufactured. This will also greatly strengthen the ‘Make in India’ campaign.
Which aircraft will be built?
This factory will mainly manufacture regional jets. These aircraft will have a seating capacity of 70 to 146 passengers. Embraer estimates that India will need at least 500 such aircraft in the next 20 years.
