In Pakistan’s Balochistan province, security forces have carried out the biggest and most gruesome action against terrorism so far. Within the last 40 hours, the Army and security agencies have killed 145 terrorists in a massive joint operation. This action has taken place at a time when there was a continuous increase in terrorist activities in the area and attacks on security forces had increased. This operation is being considered an important step towards restoration of peace in Balochistan.
Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti called an important press conference in Quetta, gave detailed information about the operation conducted in the last 40 hours.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti confirmed the massive operation while addressing a press conference in Quetta on Sunday. He said that the security forces took this step on the basis of intelligence and took action on the precise target. According to Bugti, the slain terrorists were not only targeting security forces but were also involved in killings of innocent civilians. The government has made it clear that no leniency will be shown against those who challenge the state authority and law. The Chief Minister said that the security forces are engaged in destroying the network of terrorists with full alertness.
High alert issued across Balochistan amid fear of retaliation, security forces increased patrolling in sensitive areas
After the killing of such a large number of terrorists, security arrangements have been tightened in the entire province and high alert has been declared. Intelligence agencies fear that the remaining associates of the terrorists may retaliate, in view of which patrolling has been increased in major cities, government establishments and sensitive areas. The provincial government has made it clear that any organization trying to disturb the peace of Balochistan will not be spared. The administration has also appealed to the general public to remain alert and immediately inform the security forces about any suspicious activity.
