According to the affidavit of Bhojpuri actor Shatrughan Yadav alias Khesari Lal Yadav, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate from Chapra assembly seat in Saran district of Bihar, he has movable and immovable assets worth Rs 24.81 crore.
Yadav, one of the most famous singers and actors of Bhojpuri, the most popular dialect of Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh, was made the RJD candidate from the seat a day after joining the party. Yadav’s wife Chanda also attended the party in Patna on Thursday.
In an affidavit filed while filing nomination papers before the election officer on Friday, Yadav said he had movable assets worth Rs 16.89 crore and immovable assets worth Rs 7.91 crore.
Yadav’s wife has movable assets worth Rs 90.02 lakh and immovable assets worth Rs 6.49 crore. The singer, who is contesting elections for the first time, said, ‘My heart has always been with RJD.’ Voting will be held in Chapra in the first phase on November 6.
According to the affidavit, the Bhojpuri actor has Rs 5 lakh in cash and his wife has Rs 2 lakh in cash. Yadav has several bank accounts and gold jewelery worth Rs 35 lakh. According to the affidavit, Yadav’s movable assets include a luxury car worth Rs 3 crore.
Yadav has worked in around 100 films and sung more than 5,000 Bhojpuri songs. He claimed that his father Mangroo Yadav initially worked as a street vendor in the morning and as a security guard at night.
Yadav claims that in his childhood he used to graze cattle and sell their milk. He has said that later, he moved to Delhi, where he started selling ‘Litti-Chokha’ with his parents and wife.
