Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Monday targeted the statement of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in which he said that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would get more than 160 seats out of 243 in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections. The Congress leader said that Shah had expressed the statement that “vote theft and vote Revdi will bring this result.”
Ramesh said in a post on X, “In education, VC means Vice Chancellor. In the world of start-up, VC means venture capital. VC in the army means Veer Chakra. But now we have a new type of VC that defines our politics. Vote theft.”
He said that the politically conscious people of Bihar will defeat the “conspiracies” of the BJP. “And the sutradhar has already revealed the target for VC in Bihar. The Union Home Minister has announced with full confidence that the NDA will get more than 160 seats out of 243. Will defeat the conspiracies.
Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in Bihar and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav criticized Nitish Kumar -led government, calling it a “imitatory” government, which lacks foresight. According to him, RJD has a clear view for Bihar, while the present government is “foresight”.
Yadav said, “We are also eager to reply. There are some serious issues that everyone, including journalists and general public, should know. This government is copied while we have a vision; this government is visionless.” Tejashwi Yadav accused the state of corruption in the state’s financial situation. He questioned the current availability of revenue and the Chief Minister’s schemes to increase revenue.
Tejashwi Yadav asked “Our question is about corruption. In February 2025, Bihar’s total budget was Rs 3,17,000 crore. In addition, the first supplementary amount of 58,000 crore was allocated in July. The amount of the he’s fund increased from 12,000 crores to 20,000 crore. How much does the Bihar government have? The government had Rs 3,95,000 crore. Some of the schemes are not related to Rs 3,95,000 crore. 2 lakh crore rupees are for salary. If 1,95,000 crore is left, then there are still many schemes available for all the schemes including the previous scheme.
Bihar assembly elections are scheduled to be held later this year. The main contest is between the current National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the RJD -led grand alliance. The present Bihar Legislative Assembly, including 243 members, has 131 members of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), with 80 MLAs of BJP, 45 of JD (U) (S) 4 and 2 independent candidates.
