There is an important news for the people living in New Delhi. If you live in major areas of the national capital, you will have to prepare in advance for December 26. Water supply is going to be completely disrupted in many VVIP and residential areas of the city on this day. This step has been taken by the Water Department due to the annual cleaning and maintenance of underground reservoirs. In such a situation, citizens have been advised to make arrangements for water in advance keeping in mind their daily routine.

Water crisis will deepen in NDMC area along with VVIP areas like Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhavan and India Gate.

This water cut will especially affect high-profile areas under the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). Major places where there will be no water supply include the most important institutions and buildings of the country. This includes areas like Rashtrapati Bhawan, Parliament House, Central Secretariat, India Gate, Nirman Bhawan, Vigyan Bhawan and Ashoka Road. Apart from this, residents and people working here in Connaught Place, Janpath, RML Hospital, Sunder Nagar, Lodhi Road, Rakab Ganj, Aram Bagh and Nath Avenue, which is called the heart of Delhi, will also have to face water shortage.

Taps will remain dry in many densely populated areas including Mayur Vihar, Patparganj and Ghazipur of East Delhi.

Apart from Lutyens’ Delhi, its impact will also be seen in a large part of East Delhi. The areas of East Delhi that will be affected by this shutdown include Patparganj, East Vinod Nagar, West Vinod Nagar and Ghazipur village. Additionally, residents of Pocket-1, Pocket-2 and Pocket-3 of Mayur Vihar Phase-1 may also face water shortage. There is a possibility of impact on morning and evening supply in these areas, hence local people need to take special precautions.

Advice on storing water to avoid inconvenience and helpline number 1916 issued for emergency.

The administration has appealed to the residents of the affected areas to store water as per requirement in advance to avoid any kind of problem. Low water pressure or complete blackout may occur during a shutdown. However, arrangements have been made for the convenience of citizens in case of emergency or extreme need of water. Those who need a water tanker can contact the helpline number 1916 of the central control room and order a water tanker for their area.
