Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday ordered a magistrate’s inquiry into the fire incident in a night club.
At least 25 people died in a massive fire that broke out in a nightclub in North Goa late Saturday night.
The accident happened at Birch near Romeo Lane in Arpora, North Goa. After the accident, an FIR has been registered against the owner and manager of the club. The owner has been arrested. At the same time, orders have been given for a magisterial inquiry into the accident. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday ordered a magisterial inquiry into the fire that broke out at a night club. Sawant said that an FIR has been registered against the owner and general manager of the night club and they will be arrested. The owner was arrested shortly after his statement came out.
This popular party venue in Arpora village, about 25 km from Panaji, opened last year. CM Sawant said in a post on Twitter, “I am closely reviewing the situation arising out of the tragic fire incident in Arpora in which 25 people have lost their lives and six have been injured. The condition of all six injured people is stable and they are receiving the best medical care. I have ordered a magisterial inquiry to find out the cause of the entire incident and fix responsibility.” He said that such an incident has happened for the first time in Goa.
CM Sawant said that initial investigation revealed that the fire broke out on the first floor of the club and due to crowd and small doors, customers could not come out. Some of them ran to the ground floor and got stuck there. Birch’s security guard Sanjay Kumar Gupta said, “The incident happened between 11 pm and 12 am. Suddenly a fire broke out. I was at the gate. There was going to be a DJ, dancers and there was going to be a huge crowd.”

Regarding this accident, Goa Police said that a massive fire broke out in Birch near Romeo Lane in Arpora, North Goa, due to which 25 people died. Of these, 4 are tourists and 14 are club staff members. Seven people are injured and are undergoing treatment. The cause of the fire is not yet known. Police and fire department are investigating. Legal action is being taken in the matter. Most of the deaths have occurred due to suffocation due to smoke.
