There has been a big shock for the air travelers from Ghaziabad’s Hindon Civil Terminal. Air India Express has decided to completely stop all its services from this airport. Out of 25 flights which started last year, only 7 flights are operating now. Due to shortage of aircraft and low profits, airlines have pulled back, leaving passengers with very few options.

Why did Air India Express and Indigo reduce flights?
Air India Express has cited non-availability of aircraft i.e. lack of fleet as the main reason behind stopping its services from Hindon Airport. The company earlier operated flights on 10 routes like Kolkata, Goa, Patna, Varanasi and Mumbai, which have now been completely closed. At the same time, Indigo has also reduced the number of its aircraft. According to officials, Hindon Airport is part of the Air Force, where landing and take-off of aircraft is not possible at night. Flights can be operated only from sunrise to sunset, due to which airlines face difficulty in operating.
Current available flights and route information
Now air services from Hindon Airport are available only to select cities. Star Air and Indigo are still providing their services on some routes. The current status is given below for the convenience of passengers:
Airlines operated routes (cities) Indigo Bengaluru, Navi Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Varanasi Star Air Adampur, Kishangarh and Nanded Air India Express All services have been suspended
Hindon Airport Authority officials say that they had sent several reminders to Air India Express, but the company did not share any information about the summer schedule. Due to fog in winter and lack of modern landing systems, flights often have to be canceled, causing financial losses to the companies. However, officials are hopeful of starting new routes again in the future.
