All the people and the CA hoped that the Income Tax Department would extend the date of filing returns, but the Income Tax Department has not done so till the news is written. According to the Income Tax rule, a penalty is charged 1000 rupees for filing returns on income of up to 5 lakhs. There is a provision of penalty of Rs 5000 for delays to those more annually. The Income Tax Department has fixed the last date for filing returns this year on 15 September 2025. The Income Tax Department had extended the date of filing returns due to delayed uploading some forms. Otherwise, income tax returns have to be filed by 31 July every year. By September 13, more than 6 crore people had filed income tax returns. Meanwhile, it has also come to know that the Income Tax Department has activated the option of condonation of delay i.e. delay for those who do not file returns due to emergency reasons. For this, open the Income Tax Department website and go to the service option. Click on Condonation Request there. Then you can complete the process by choosing the concerned statutory form and pressing the button of Create Condonation Request. For the Condonation of Delay, you will have to give evidence related to your emergency case to the Income Tax Department.
