New Delhi. India is now planning to protect its satellites in space from hazards. The media quoted sources as saying that in the mid -2024, a satellite from a neighboring country passed through a satellite of India’s space agency ISRO just 1 km. This is called Near Miss in the language of space. This satellite of ISRO acts as monitoring and mapping. This incident has raised apprehension that India’s satellite in space can be targeted by foreign satellites. Because of this, work on the scheme has been started to save India’s satellites.
Sources say that India is preparing to deploy bodyguard satellites to save its satellites in space. These bodyguards will monitor satellites from other countries in satellite space. So that satellites of India can be saved by identifying the imminent threat. According to sources, experts believe that the arrival of another satellite near India’s satellite was the power display of that country. In such a situation, India is now preparing to send 50 bodyguards satellites to save its satellites. The first bodyguard satellite is expected to be sent in the year 2026. This project will cost 27000 crores.
India’s neighboring China has more than 900 satellites in space. Whereas, the number of satellites of India is more than 100. With the help of China, Pakistan has also sent 8 satellites in space. According to media reports, satellites with light detection and range will be deployed with space startups. Which will inform the scientists in the control room whether any satellite from another country is going to come to any satellite of ISRO. In this way, preparation will be done in advance to deal with that challenge. India also has an anti-satellite missile A-Saturday. Due to which the enemy satellite can be destroyed in space only if needed.
