Iran has allowed Indian flagged ships to pass safely through the Strait of Hormuz. This decision was taken by India’s Foreign Minister S. This comes after a phone conversation between Jaishankar and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Due to the ongoing tension in the Gulf region, maritime traffic had stopped to a great extent, but now the way has been cleared for Indian ships. This is a big relief after the diplomatic talks between India and Iran on March 10.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) has clarified that any ship must first obtain permission to pass through this route. Indian ships will have to contact Iranian authorities through radio or other maritime communication means. Iran has said that ships that are not linked to the interests of the US, Israel or Europe will not be harmed. Between Wednesday and Thursday, two Indian tankers named MT Pushpak and MT Parimal have safely crossed this route. If a ship enters without permission or ignores warnings, it may be targeted.

India’s Shipping Ministry has confirmed that 28 Indian ships are currently present in the Gulf area. Of these, 24 ships are operating in the western part of the strait.
