In Kuwait, on the night of Saturday 28 February 2026, there was panic in the entire country due to the sound of emergency sirens. Following the attacks between America, Israel and Iran, the Kuwait government has put the security system on high alert as a precaution. Kuwait Air Defense has informed that they have intercepted and destroyed 97 ballistic missiles and 283 drones in their southern part. Amidst this tense situation, Kuwait has closed its airspace to all commercial flights.

What is the meaning of siren sounds in Kuwait?
The General Directorate of Civil Defense has told about three types of siren tones to make the public aware. The first intermittent tone means that danger is near and immediate caution is to be taken. The second wavy tone indicates that the attack is currently taking place. The third and last continuous tone means that the danger has now passed and the situation is safe. The administration has appealed to the people not to panic and trust only official media channels.
Damage and impact on public services
So far, 1 person has been confirmed dead and 32 injured in Kuwait due to missile and drone attacks. A drone falling at Kuwait International Airport has caused some damage and minor injuries. Apart from this, CBSE has postponed the 10th and 12th board examinations to be held at the centers in the Middle East due to security reasons. Indians and other expatriates living in Kuwait have been advised not to leave the house unnecessarily and report any suspicious object on helpline number 112.
